Man, I thought this mugo finally stopped stressing. A bud was made. Then needles popped out.
Third "flush" this year. Too bad they're turd flushes.

IMG_20200603_173454.jpg
Finally some extensions on this tiny larch. Last year it dropped all foliage at the end of summer. That's why it's in a pond basket now. Probably over watered it. But it's happy now.
I'm ramifying as it grows, because I'm not sure what to keep yet.
It's a creative take on root over rock by the way. Going to take a couple more years before I even decide which branches will stay on.

Walnut whips. Nice taper. From seed last year.

IMG_20200606_171517.jpg
Spruce got new shoes last week. Growing well.
Not sure where it's going in the future, but for a start it's all about getting it in optimal health.

The difference a repot makes for jack pine: vivid green new growth in the front with the copper wire. The yellow one in the back was repotted later.

Itoigawa seems to like peat soils.

IMG_20200614_155607.jpg
Ewp seems to do fine with needle cutting. Removing the buds in spring has lead to this; pretty short internodes.

IMG_20200614_155414.jpg
Was hoping for buds, bud it turns out they're fruits.

Buds on this red pine. A pot made by my mom.

Black birds, black pine, black magic. It just doesn't work guys. I waited 300+ days for this seedling to be shipped to me. It was wired - probably poorly - into a temporary container and then this happens. I give up.
No more JBP for me, ever.
I'm going to set them all on fire.

Another ant structure.

IMG_20200711_152226.jpg
More aphids underneath.

Pretty cool actually. This is a foot or so above ground level and they built it in a single day.
Thanks to the ants, it's pretty easy to spot and treat against those aphids.

You win some, you lose some.

I’m posting here for TWO reasons..

One is to be kept updated on this post.. y’know, spraypainting my “I was here.”

aaand the second is to say, “Nya-hahaha... you said “turd flushes.”!

🤣

Why pull needles if they drop naturally when you cut them with scissors? Way less damage.

Thissun' rightere is from the wildlands too. 2 years in.
It doesn't need much to look like a tree. I like it. Poor angle for a photo, I know.

Three years of over watering for this juniper.

Have a nice day!

I wondered what happened with it.
It's been sailing happily for the past three years or so. Sometimes it jumps out of the pond, sometimes it flips upside down thanks to the goldfish, it's chewed on, spat out, left to dry in the sun, left to drown in the rain. It harbors leeches and aquatic snails.
But! It's not growing a lot. Maybe a centimeter per year.

Last of the JBP. No more struggles with those weaklings.

IMG_20200912_160208.jpg
Ginkgo reduced from 1.2 meters to roughly 15cm in 2 years. Good to see it's alive.

IMG_20200912_160303.jpg
Cherry took a beating this summer. Probably dead.

IMG_20200912_160326.jpg
EWP took a beating too, but it liked it.

Stumpy the scots pine and another record breaking longaeva. Record breaking because it's heading for year 3 (or was it 4?!) in sub-sea level elevation.
