Hello all, I hope everyone is well. I have a maple that I got myself for my birthday last year, and its been going strong until recently. I noticed the top leaves looked burnt, they were crispy and fell off when i touched them. fast forward a few days, I've been pulling handfuls of leaves off every afternoon. Google says its "brown spot" but I don't think so.

symptoms are: leaves were entirely brown or green, no spots in particular. They felt crispy, the tips were dry on some but not others. It's also had water regularly, so I'm fairly sure I'm not overwatering. I have also moved the tree to an area i know is pretty shady most of the day, and its still steadily losing leaves.
Any help is appreciated. Also, I'm in the RDU area in NC if that helps

I see similar with some of my maples at times. I do not know the cause. I suspect a fungicide would help and think the pH of my water needs to be tested. I've seen improvement with using miracid mixed in with my fertilizer with my maples. More sun/ early morning and space may also help. Good luck

It’s gotta be hot AF in north carolina. It looks like it’s just the tops that are suffering. More afternoon shade and keeping the soil moist should help here. That terra cotta isn’t doing you any favors either. Does not look like evidence of fungus. The foliage does look wet though. If you’re afraid of fungus don’t water your foliage unless it can dry within a few hours. Your plant looks pretty healthy except for those tops. My maples look terrible right now. I need a shade cloth and they were all under watered while on vacation. Your soil looks like twice per day watering may be called for this time of year.

I had just sprayed the whole thing down with fungicide, thats why its all wet lol. That's good to know though, I'll check the water levels more frequently. Thanks for your help!

Yes, that pot is not doing you any favors, terracotta will absorb a lot of your water. If you’re going to use that pot soak it in water at watering time.

Also, if your pot is sitting like it is in the photo it has no ventilation. I would suggest you get some pot feet for your pot this will also STOP ants making the pot home
