Is this a Chionanthus virginucus and why did you include it in the thread?
Ray Thieme was the man from whom I bought the pot from. He had done bonsai for over sixty years. That tree was just a shrub with a 1 inch trunk when he dug it.

Maybe the question was brought up in an unrelated thread that you possible offered an opinion on. Either way, what are you thoughts on binding some Chinese Elms together and the likelihood they would form one trunk as does a Trident?

I have no experience with grafting elms since they bud so readily, so never thought to graft trunks.

I wouldn't have even grafted the tridents if growers would start growing maples to look like maples instead of pines.:p
