Not so sure that is true but misunderstanding. The place selling these is called "Imperial" as in Imperial Garden:confused:.

I agree. Maybe there are Imperial Bonsai and then there is imperial bonsai. I mean there is Queen Elizabeth but I sleep on a queen sized bed.

I prefer bonsai and bonsai like plants 20" and smaller.
But the bigger ones are cool two.
As far as terminology goes, its all a matter of what people understand it to be.
And who smoked what in their closet?

Here is a picture I took a couple of years ago at the Pacific Rim Bonsai Collection. The wall behind the tree is about 6 feet tall.

If someone knows the story behind this tree please post it. I can't quite remember the details but I believe this was a gift from Japan for the world's fair of 1890 something.
