Is it too late to collect bald cypress

My friend asked me to help him collect a dozen BC next week. Is that too late for Louisiana? What should I do to ensure success?

I've successfully collected BC in S.Carolina in July. I personally would be leery of collecting larger specimens while they're extending their spring foliage.
