....mainly because it's the Christmas season, but also if you live in the northern hemisphere and you have JBP as part of your bonsai collection, then it's time if you haven't already done so to do the fall work on them which consists of needle pulling and wiring which I consider the funest part.
I'll be posting four different JBPs all which were given to me. I would never have purchased these trees to begin with as you'll see when you scroll down to the history of each one. None of them in my opinion at the time were even worthy of selling , not just because three of them were only seedlings, but because they just didn't have much going for them at all. Even today these trees won't set the worl on fire for sure, but where they came from in the beginning until now is a world apart as far as I'm concerned.
This first tree along with another JBP was given to me by someone who liked the art of bonsai but never really had the time to care for their trees properly. It was given to me in the fall of 2012 barely holding to life as it was pretty much drip watered all summer. I reluctantly took the tree expecting it to not last the winter. But to my amazement it by spring it came back good and strong.

Today the tree is fine and healthy and I couldn't be happier with it. This pic shows the tree a few days ago before the work. Aside from removing the needles, a little bit of wiring is all that is needed. 1

Not much to look at is there? Notice the browning needles and the pale green look. This is the tree as it was given to me in 2012. pic 3.jpg

Moving it into a different pot still didn't help me with the style it was in and something had to be donepic 5.jpg

I still couldn't get what I wanted no matter what side I chose. pic 6.jpg

pic 7.jpg So last year I made the decision to do a radical change in the styling. I knew this would be the side I would be using, but how much should I change it?
This would be my style now for this treepic 7.jpg
