JBP asking price question?

Thanks for that I learned something new about decandling them every other year. I might one day have 1 corker but not right now and yes there cork is super fragile. They are pretty awesome to look at though. Also this one has nebari and it's decent but nothing special. Either way my friend received a deposit already so its pretty much gone I think. I wasn't sure on how to ship that tree without being scared a cork would fall off.

I critiqued your attitude here not the tree, genius. Lest you forgot, you asked for it on an open forum and you wanna talk to me about stupidity? Where I'm from you have to give respect to get it, you have none of mine and from the looks of other replies you haven't earned theirs either.
You said you were not selling here, when in fact you are; which let's me know right away you are full of shit; so I looked very hard at your pics and none of what you said matched up. This had very little to do with the tree, I could care less how much it sells for.
You addressed a forum full of bonsai hobbyists, professionals and enthusiasts and it's clear you are none of these. If you were you wouldn't be asking this forum to price your tree for you. Er, sorry, it's not your tree. If you had spent the time developing it you would have a feel for its value. Many here sell trees professionally or as a hobby but you wanted to force feed us some cheese-dick bullshit about how the tree was produced by the hands of a master pines man and has exceptional branching; I don't even want to know what your definition of branching is. You don't know the grower, you didn't even grow the tree but you get defensive as if someone insulted your efforts. What really happened is you're embarrassed, because it is you who doesn't understand what you are selling. Come on guy: Cork barks are more prone to diseases and pests than their true species counterparts and you're importing them to Miami Florida why? -don't answer that, I'm on a 'no bullshit diet', Dr. orders.
And that was your first post.
Then you go off on a hormone induced 13 year old girl jr. High rant. What respectable man writes 'hahaha' while mouthing off? Now I'm pissed because I have a niece that is 13. You're giving 13 yr old girls a bad name, which means now you've offended my family. You owe my niece an apology.

You can come get your apology whenever you want and I know cork barks don't live here read genius the tree is in central fl. I will however try it for myself instead of hearing it from others. The tree was completely done in Japan and it came from a well known nursery. You really don't know anything... Internet jerks are everywhere I won't post on this thing anymore the tree sold so it's irrelevant. You are just tough over the Internet I can bet you would be a lot nicer in person. I am not a tough guy or anything but those who know me know that I treat everyone with a lot of respect even some who do not deserve it. You wrote stupid things and it could have been worded different but you chose how you said it. Like I said the tree was grown and done by a guy who was doing bonsai with his dad before you were probably conceived. The tree is a good tree but you want to say it had reverse taper when almost all of them have reverse taper so stop the bs you wrote about the tree and a dik way. I know what the tree cost and that was less because of the exchange from Japan. I also was asking basically if that would be to much if you had no answer for the question than take your opinions else where! I hope we meet one day I really do...

es, they are. Since they usually don't have good nebari, they don't make good bonsai. They're kind of a novelty tree. However, every once in a while, one has a really good graft, or something, and it does have good nebari. I've seen a few. But they are rare.

The bark is extremely fragile. Knocks off easily. I've seen some trees "protected" by having thin wires loosely wrapped around the tree to hold the bark in place. Not trying to bend the branches, just hold the bark on.

Once the bark starts growing, you can't wire branches. The bark will pop off if you try to bend the branch.

That's great information that I and likely quite a few others did not know. I already know the wood is weak as I've seen the trees growing in the ground. Or better said; laying on the ground. The wood wouldn't support the tree. I had been considering getting one of them but that's still up in the air.

Potawatomi,

You've seen these growing in the ground?

These trees are interesting to look at but I can't say I would ever put that kind of money into a corker. I would say 800ish seems to be a better price. Your conflict of information also would make me wary of buying from you. I know how corners grow and it is nice, for a corker, but I thick maybe some thicker skin and little more understanding of bonsai would go a long way.

Yep, BP would know, it's only his job!!!

Corkers are always more expensive. They are not a common species and are not easy to find in a refined state as the one in OP appears to be. Brent has a few grafts for sale for a couple hundred and I think one cutting grown for $700 or $800. It is not refined and needs training. Brent is known to have quality stock for very fair pricing so that should give some indication of what these types are worth.

Why wait, How about behind the bleachers after recess?
. Man, this is getting good. So far it's even money. Frame has upped the anty with a call out. It's in Johns court now. I hope BP in BP John does not stand for " black pine". That would be embarrassing.

Oh well. If the discourse is not respectful at least it's entertaining...Too bad these guys are on opposite sides of the country. I was about to pull up a chair and some popcorn...

It wouldn't be so bad. I give good hugs afterwards
That lucky son of a B, what a surprising twist. Can I have a hug too? maybe we can all sit down and compare our corks, it's perfectly natural. I've always wondered what other corks look like. My cork is a little crooked and small, but that's normal right?

We already saw Jon's cork!

My testosterone detector and my dick-wad meter are both registering off the scale, like a flashback to the BNut of old, circa 2011 I'd guess - the really good stuff you could only get in the bar.
