I am still waiting for my air layers to root. I checked my JM air layers after 5 weeks and no roots but there are white dots around the area so hopefully roots will grow from it!
In the mean time I turned my dwarf alberta into a niwaki (is that the right word?). I made a whole drawing of what I wanted it to come out like and it was somewhat close. Gonna do some more clean up on the innards but that can be for another day.
Looks promising. dont mess with it too much. Once the layer is on in the mid to late spring keep it moist and only consider removing until roots are seen on the edge of the bag. This is usually around september, as around this time the tree is pushing energy into the roots to store for winter so trees put on a lot of roots and wood in fall, just like they do in spring.
