Hey guys, I‘m new to the world of Bonsai and I‘m currently preparing for some projects I want to start this spring.

I recently planted these Norway Spruce:

Now they‘re sitting pretty close to each other since I didn‘t have too many pots when I planted them and I wasn‘t sure if even one of them was going to sprout.

Should I just leave them be until they‘re bigger or should I seperate them asap so the roots don‘t get tangled?

Btw I planted them on 16th of January and they first started showing on the 24th.

I‘m looking forward to your suggestions - thanks in advance!

Best regards from Germany

I would leave them till bigger.
I too am collecting Norway Spruce cones and have them planted now.About 5 have popped up.

I am making seedling cuttings.
If these look good ,next season I will purchase like an entire pound of seed to really achieve a greater quantity.

I have looked online and these seem they could be nice material.I also like they sprout instantly needing no pretreatment.
I am excited to see how they grow for me giving seedling cutting and co2 fertilization and basic Dutch Hydroponic science.
Here is the internet picture and then mine in the growhouse just sprouting.

If these do well for me , I will certainly grow more next year.Screenshot_20260126_072648_Chrome.jpg20260126_073306.jpg20260126_073342.jpg

Thanks for the advice!
Would you recommend making seedling cuttings instead of keeping them like this? I've read into it and it seems like an experiment worth a try - although I'm not sure about the potential failure rate. All in all I planted around 15 seeds.
