Just thought I would mention to the Bnut community that our very own "Big Dave" passed away. He will be missed by many. RIP

Wow!

Dave Rochester was a very good friend. We have known each other for 13 years. I am saddened to hear this news.

Some pots from my good friend. Hope all is well with the family.

He was absolutely the nicest guy! Very sad! I have lost 40lbs and this motivates me to continue ( Dave was known as big Dave not just cause his heart was big). Life is to short!

I am so sorry to hear that. He was such a nice person. I don't know him personally, but his posts all came across as being from a really decent guy. That is too sad. Hope his family is ok and well taken cared of.
Thanks for caring enough to post this sad news for us Nathanbs.

"He had complained of shortness of breath 3-4 days ago. Hospital checked him out but could not find anything wrong. Didn't go to club meeting that he presides but sent an email with instructions on what to do in his absence of the meeting and then today I received a call from Steve Valentine that Dave had passed unexpectedly." -Abe Far
Unfortunately this is all that I know after talking to Abe on the phone today. I called Abe because I saw an alarming Facebook post from Cary Sullivan/valentine

Very sad news. Best regards to his family and friends.:(

I don't think I have had the chance to see one of big daves posts, it seems to have been my loss from the regards people have for him here. I hope those he left behind are able to cope as well as possible during this terribly sad situation.

This is sad news. Prayers go out to his wife and kids. He is going to be missed.

Yes, this is sad.
I hope that someone is able to care for the trees, so his family isn't burdened with care of them at this painful time.

This is sad and like Dav4 said, he had just posted the other day. You never know from one minute to the next.

Don't know the guy but went back and read lots of his posts...we certainly need more of him here. From what Smoke posted (I really like the middle one) he is also a good potter. A definite loss for the bonsai community.

Prayers sent and RIP.

Having lost my mother (94) this last week I know there is nothing anyone can say to the family that will take away the pain and the loss. In my case the blow was softened by the fact we knew our mother's passing was an eminent event long expected. For Dave's family; from what I understand, this was kind of a surprise and I truly wish there was something I could say or do, or wish; that would make the pain go away. Only time can do that. Just know that there were a lot of people from all over the world that thought very highly of him.

This is sad news, though I didn't know him either, I appreciated his posts. My condolences to the family!!

I didnt know him either but from the reaction, I can see he was well liked and had an impact on the bonsai community. My thoughts go out to his family at this difficult time.

Though I didn't know him personally, I always found his posts friendly and helpful. RIP Big Dave

Terribly sad news! My condolences to friends and family, and the San Diego Bonsai Club. Rest in peace, Big Dave.
