Rooting powder between saplings?

I am thinking of scraping the bark a little on 4 three yr old saplings and adding a little rooting powder to get them to fuse together for a larger trunk. After grouping them, I will bind them with floral tape and then wire them . Comments on why or why not, please.

Rooting powder stimulates roots. That is its function. If you think this is a grand experiment then go ahead with it, but I can absolutely guarantee it has been tried before. If you want to fuse trunks, don't use an inappropriate hormone and in fact, no hormone at all is much preferable. And please understand that some trunks fuse easily and some do not species to species.
I have to assume that you are using tropical plants like ficus, but if you are talking about temperate zoned trees, your timing is not good and late winter to very early spring is appropriate. It would help to know your location and the type of tree / plant you are working with.
