This tree is a challenge and will not be finished for some time with refined foliage. However the general direction, deadwood and planting angle has been determined. I am considering pot selection and would like some input. The tree was repotted this year so it was not prudent to disturb it for placing in and out of the various choices.
The tree is currently 18 inches high, the base varies from 2 1/2 inches to 3 inches depending on rotation. Current front as pictured is 2 3/4 inches at the base not including the deadwood beside the base. The pots being considered are all between 10-12 inches long, 2 1/2 inches to 3 1/4 inches deep. So they all fall within general guidelines of reasonable size choice.
The live veins have not been cleaned or polished, still retaining natural weathered look. If you have a preference just state a number in the order they are listed. 1-10. Thanks to everyone who responds.IMG_9412.JPGIMG_9401.JPGIMG_9402.JPGIMG_9404.JPGIMG_9406.JPGIMG_9407.JPGIMG_9409.JPGIMG_9410.JPGIMG_9411.JPGIMG_9408.JPG

My favorites are the last one, the first rectangle and the last drum posted. I am going by instinct rather than rational. Great tree and pots.
(10, 5 and 4)

Thanks for the response, interesting that group includes the least expensive choice and the most expensive pot. I guess at this point it does not matter as they are all paid for and sitting on my shelf.
The last drum posted is a Sarah Rayner i picked up at the Artisans cup. Wish i had bought more of her work at that time. Have not had access to her work since then.
# 4 is a Gary Wood pot that i have admired on my shelf for the past five years. Picked it up at Telperion farms. Was very pleased to find a bit larger example of his work hiding on a top shelf in the back.

Good Eye, i screwed up in loading the pictures or taking them, take your pick.
#10 is a Tokoname pot purchased in Japan 2011 by my son. Not antique but very nice pot.
I recently got a new phone, a downgrade from prior phones, but it works...
I noticed, when loading attaching 6-10 photos at one time, similar things would happen....there'd be one pic doubled and one missing, but done individually, no issues.

I like #10, SR's pot and #1 because it's so neutral, shallow but wider... That redish one is beautiful, but slightly shallow and the leg shape is a bit distracting. Nice tree and good excercise, I love it.

#1 has another good feature with the oval shape connecting with the coiled deadwood and as you mentioned a bit wider which includes more of the tree within the pots framework. I too think the reddish one might take over a bit from the tree, the pot is stunning!

But if it was a little bigger and with a lighter shaped feet, like #10 for example... Rustic pot could suit well.
