Now look at those pretty slash pines!The first upright,I really like it.How tall is it and when did you start training?

You are way too kind... But I thank you.

That first tree stands 36 inches from the soil level. It was one of the first trees I collected when I got back into bonsai. Here's a picture of it fresh from the ground in 2002.

It would be a lot nicer tree had I known then what I know now but it's been a great learning tree.

Slash pine

I think you certainly did some good work with the pine Jay.It has character and slash pines are not that easy to train for bonsai because of the dominant top growth.They are great candidates though for Andy's bending technique.Have you tried it ?

Thanks for posting the photographs,I eventually realized you were addressing me with "cascade" and were not trying to imply a cascade style on one of those...:D
