Acer katsura, keeping everything in check to allow basal shoots to become stronger, removal of crotch growth, reducing potentiol bar branching, trimming to two where there are three, trimming back to one or two pairs etc, gives low buds the best chance, while the top becomes ramified

taking cuttings this year, to be used as thread graft down low in early spring for simultaneous root grafts and additional trunks

this one is destined to be a non-symmetrical kabudachi arakawa - first inspiration picture taken from bill valavanis’ blog if i remember correctly, second inspiration picture is a prunus mume from omiya. Thinking 5-7 trunks maybe
