The Tree Thread

While the top view is pretty too I wanna see the front! I was about to post BIN when your bid on the auctions page popped up for the chojubai, you fiend! Lol

Yes, sorry Joe! I jumped on that chojubai quickly. I knew it was going to get snapped up. Just got it yesterday and it's way bigger than in looked in the photos. It's really nice.

Here is a better view of the one I posted earlier. This was taken last spring. Potted in an antique Chinese Shiro-cochi pot.

Do you know the cultivar?
Sorry, not sure! Probably a Hino variety of some type! The original owner has several planted in the landscape that he brought from his family home in Japan!

Cool.. Do not see these often as bonsai. Maybe I will start a thread on jabuticaba..

I may or may not have killed a mugo this weekend. Had to take it with me from the nursery as a special sale for 30 bucks. And as summer repotting mugo is all in fashion, I bit the bullet. Not sure whether I can also dodge it though..

Satsuki Azalea, the thread grafts are progressing nicely with both showing good growth and thickening more on the exit points. Will leave in place until mid season next year! This adds two more branches on the outside curves lower down on the trunk. pad development in those locations next stage.

You have a chnce if you get it into a soil mix mostly of Pumice with some red volcanic gravel and as small amount of composted Pine bark mulch. Be very careful of the watering. Make sure you do not water the roots till it almost dries out but-- mist the folieage three times a day. If you cut out the crotch growth and the stuff that is growing from the underside of the branches you will take some of the pressure off the roots to feed stuff you don't need. Keep the tree is dappled shade for the rest of the season.
