Pond basket is still not brittle!

But still too tall!20170415_081501.jpg

The other week I found a nice set of radial surface roots on this which I wasnt expecting.

So I canned the top layer Idea and just cuttinged it.

And cut back down to the above pic.

Come to find out I learned a lesson on keeping surface roots covered, and not letting soil fall out the side of the basket!
(Year one garden paper liner decomposed, year 2 soil fell out.)

One of these 2 things killed off most of those radial roots.....

So I ended up with this.
20170415_084449.jpg
Which I ended up cutting all the roots off of above the cinch...so I can get an even new start.

I canned the root cutting Idea too...
But nonetheless....

Because I was going to take some...

I prepared proper straight from the beginning....

Cali Style!

@Bonsai Nut if you want...
When I repot my Timecapsuled AE...
I can sphag and bag a S load of roots for you.

I reckon they'll blast off out there.

Anyhoocifer...

That shower liner was made into a RadialDisk™...20170415_092011.jpg
And placed just under the wiretie.

I kept it above ground so when I see roots out of the netting....

I can run one of them $2 Baer Grills Wal-Mart wire pull saws right under the RadialDisk™....

And make quick work of getting this sitting right flat in a pot.

Ma Nache hooked it up on this one...

New Plan!

Nice bro. Did that winged elm start growing again for you? The 2 brothers I still have got attacked by Japanese beetles. I hate those damn things. Then I gave everything a dose of systemic insecticide and now my backyard looks like a beetle graveyard.

Inconspicuous Airlayering is a technique I'm working on.

Bark color matching scarves.
Some places a bag will go unnoticed.
You can skip the tinfoil.

Took off some unnecessary stuff...
Needs some grinder work.

I'll Probly dig the entire thing before I move in may or later....
And cut it at the zip tie.

I took 4 3ft cuttings!

That's going to make a grand gnarly trunk. Nice drastic pruning on the growth.
