What’s your latest Bonsai related purchase?

And these two arrived today.

I could be happier with the condition, but they are close enough to the seller's descriptions that I'm content.
Besides, I already had to stop myself reading just to share this post.

All I need now is a laundry machine and the pretty lady from the local garden shop's phone number, and my summer preparations will be about complete.

No plans on using this one for bonsai as it’s grafted but who knows, maybe one day I’ll try air layers on it but I couldent pass on this one either. That spring color is 🤩

Does barter qualify as purchase? I just bartered half a smoked brisket for a chance to collect some trees. It's likely that he would let me collect anyway but delivering a brisket makes it much easier to show up with shovel in hand. In today's economy, that half a brisket ain't cheap haha.

Even if he’d have let you do it for free it’s always nice to voluntarily give something in return and who could not be happy with fooood? 😀

Anyone have something to share about how this stuff handles extreme freeze/thaw cycles?
Winters here can be pretty wacky.
After two winters HERE... I can sift, re-use and lose 1/4, most times a little less.

The particulate size over two winters reduced overall about 10-15 percent. (Rough estimation).

It gets pretty cold, here.

Mr maple trees arrived today!
Seedling mikawa and “Mila” they are a little mad about being shipped.

You slept on the golden Trident Maples, eh? lol
The thought did cross my mind….. BUT…. I’m trying to save SOME of my money their open house Memorial Day. I’m hoping to find something really unique or weird that isn’t offered online 😁

Got concave cutters a while back. I held off getting some for a good while because I was concerned about the price, but I've ended up using them more than I thought I would. I love the cut that it makes.
