Krazy krinkle. Cut it early because of my excitement hopefully it doesn't burn me. My first successful airlayer on a grafted acer. 😀

Holy cow what a tree! Here is my little box. Early spring planting trees and drinking cold ones.

Any long extensions cut back to a pair of leaves - leaves side to side instead of top and bottom if possible. Anything growing toward the interior. Thin out top most, middle next, bottom less to let light get inside. Take off lignified limbs that are too straight for too long.
Maybe I should wait until spring here. Thank you

I got a new camera (hand me down), one persons loss is another ones gain! I'm so pumped to be able to take some nice pictures while my trees progress! This is my first ever tree. How we have grown together, it feels good to finally give it the love it deserves.

Repotted my big (for me) portulacaria afra.
For the longest time I'd been killing them in the winter by overwatering. I finally got a cutting to be alive for 3 years. So, I decided to buy a larger one last winter. It grew a lot outside this summer and really needed a repot from bark it was planted in and a reduction...

And my 3 year old cutting

Brought my BRTs into their winter quarters since they are still recovering from re-potting and night temps are going to be around 50 deg +/- this coming week and days barely hitting 70. I keep telling myself to repot no later than the beginning of July so they have more time but never seem to get there.
Fall is coming too fast this year here.

I love the natural design!

Any tips you've learned from working on these?

Here's mine, getting ready to have the big sacrifice chop this fall.

Thanks! I am still learning as well, but so far, it seems to bud back every time I have trimmed it, don't know if it is a flush pine, like a JBP, but it does grow well and pretty aggressive sense I have had it. I do love the color of this species and the short needles as well, I am hoping I can get the needles even shorter down the road.

Like the tree thread, a pic required w/each post. Just for fun.
I thought it would be a fun thread for everyone to post what the did today regarding their Bonsai collection, along the lines of the tree thread where a pic is required or it didn't happen w/your post. Before and after even better but not required.
Show us what you did with your bonsai today.
After grocery shopping. I really started goofing off. My hawthorn tree had a fern in it before but it died this spring
Some people will hate it. Others say it's a detriment to the tree. Me? I've become accustomed to it and liked the effect. So today I selected an appropriate one from the garden and replaced it. The hole was already there cause I removed some roots that leafed out and repotted them.

I finally repotted my Schefflera. It went from a mica pot to this wooden box. I didn't have the correct pot for it, but I do still need to get the roots to fill the future space.

I gave about 2 inches of space on the three sides and a lot more room underneath the defining branch on the right for the roots to grow into before I force it into its next bonsai pot. It will probably be in this box for a year (or two) depending on how it fills out over the winter.
