What is the tree with the floating leaves? I love how ruined it is.
Beauty.Thanks!

Lovely trees. I too like winter shows.

Alas, as usual, too many of the shohin have poor ramification. (There are exceptions, however -- nice ones.)

Verynice show. :)

I might be a bit picky too though... It could just be me, but I feel that a couple of the trident maples have incredible bases and trunks, but.. .they could possibly benefit from a more rounded canopy..?

They are beautiful and far better than any I have, but they look more like a conifer style than deciduous to my eyes. Is it common to style maples this way in Japan? It seems all of the maples I remember from apprentices blogs lately have had more rounded canopies.

I know this has been a topic of conversation in the past and it's not my intention to start an argument. Most of the deciduous trees I see are cottonwood, elm or ash... and we don't have near as many here in WY as most of the rest of you.

I appologize if I'm critiquing anyone here's trees... as I said, they are much nicer than any deciduous trees I have. :)

This was a really nice little shohin chinese elm and one of my favorite tree at the show. the picture just don't do it justice. The pot is not entirely suitable I think. But the tree is a great example of what one can do with just a few low branches on a straight stump. The deadwood on this tree is really cool.

This is another one of my favorite tree there. Sorry I don't remember who the artist owner is. It is a massive Chinese elm with a really wild, yamadori style about it. The picture makes it look kinda small, but it is really massive.

This little elm forest was my favorite. It is really small, but looks really big. Maybe 10 -12 in tall at the most. It has a really natural wild look about it. The trunks and branches are aged and matching. The branch locations on the different trees are naturally random and patternless. The pot could be thinner and wider.
