9 month progression from a $1 Home Depot plant bought 5 months before the first photo.

Also, my shelving collapsed and crushed the tree, knocked off a primary branch (that I grew as a cutting!) The branch is being regrown in the 4th photo, which was taken today.

I'd say it's done pretty well! You can see that I've wired some more movement into the main trunk and there's a developing nebari now!

Now, I just need to get a low sacrifice branch to start a nicer taper growing. *prays to bonsai gods*

How somehow people accuse abqjoe of "fronting", or somehow thinking his season of work makes him a Master!
He's just confident. Which doesn't a cheater make! And he's posted every pic since purchase...so how the hell is he really going to claim work that's not his?

Could it be that Joe actually did the research, which we whine about wanting everyone to do, and doesn't need to post questions that could be easily answered correctly elsewhere? Hmmmm!

Anyway...that's the closest we got to exposing a faker, cheater, fixer...whatever....
And we were wrong. Just wrong.

Here's my thing about cheaters....

Cheating is simply unsustainable.

What Are you trying to win? Money?

What's the next contest then?

Let's climb a tree.

Let's fish.

Let's dig.

Is it about proving manhood?

A need to win so bad you cheat?

Eventually you will be exposed...
Or lose.

And what of the final contest?

But have no experience winning to apply to a successful life win?

And we stomp them like roaches!

I Was merrily stating that in our group we have some people with high-quality trees.
( it was more of a complement than anything )
And by saying it's an already fixed contest was my way of saying that.

I showed a picture to a guy of me holding a large bass yesterday. He said to me that it didn't look that big as he was looking up at me. From 5'6" tall. I told him it's all scale. If he held it I wouldn't be able to see him.
