Hurricane Florence

Insane. Although I can’t tell if the pictures are proportional. Either way, Florence was NO WHERE NEAR the storm the media was, and is, playing it up to be. We’ll see in a few days though once it all calms down. Now that typhoon is going to be SERIOUS. Where are you going for the duration of it?

So, I did some reading, typhoons and hurricanes are the same thing. Florence is category 1, Mangkhut is category 5. It’s gonna pass right over Hong Kong apparently, they’re on high alert and google flashes red every time I search for an update. I’m 77 kilometres north of that

I’m the blue dot. Gonna charge cameras and GoPro s to try and get some of the action (it’s a first for me)

P.S. my wife is pissed coz everyone has to do extra work on Saturday to make up for the downtime expected next week.

I couldn’t figure out what was going on with this thread until I remembered that quite a while ago I blocked a low intellect troll. I guess he must have posted on this thread and got blocked. Life is good.
As did I. I’m enjoying not seeing his drivel.

Yes, and wishing people learn, not (only) pray.

What's the use of "mourning" when you refuse to understand how next time it can be avoided, or at least limited?

Nature can be cruel, and each one has their ways of conjuring disasters.

But when people refuse to aknowledge the evidence, especially for petty short-term benifits to their own selves - they're not cruel, they're criminals because it's not only about themselves, it(s about the whole mankind.

Everyone that has a modicum of common sense understands why this is happening on such a scale, and more and more frequently.

Anyone with an ounce of humanity will not wish that to happen anywhere.

Others are watching the disaster.

And then, they pray.

I don't pray, I just wish I could help for I'm in the real world. Take action instead of whining.

And if there was another "dimension", I'd rather stand before the door than kneel down to be pardonned.
I normally try to stay out of the arguments here, but to say you can "avoid" or "take action" against a hurricane is ridiculous. And to say people are whining when they are in danger of losing their homes, their belongings, and their lives is pretty callous and without "an once of humanity."

@Joe R here’s a proportional pic for ya

Man. Isn’t it funny how no one That I ask has ever heard of mankhut? Our media is so sheltered and self centered here. That is a monster of a storm. I hope you stay safe and have a plan set. I can’t imagine what a storm like that does to a city like Hong Kong.

When Is it projected to hit? When I tried to google when the monsoon will hit all I can find are articles from two full days ago or older- what’s up with that? No recent coverage of it?

Not so sure, they said dawn on Sunday, it’s lunchtime here now. Thought I’d be just north of the danger zone, but seems like I’ll be in it.

CNN updated st 4:00 am this morning showing projected path heading towards Macau now, Hong Kong to north of oath with 134 mph winds, which is a Catagory 4 strength. Said winds were still strong 200 miles away in Manila when storm hit The Philippines.

I agree this is not the appropriate thread, but I don’t see why he cannot say whatever he wants on an American website. The USA is, in many respects, a big country and the decisions and actions of North Americans influence the others around. Even those that do not live there. So yes, the ‘others’ are entitled to comment. If you want this forum to be restricted to USA citizens, do so!
This is America, where even assholes are entitles to their opinions. That's why I told him to take it to another, more appropriate thread, and leave this one to the people in harm's way.
