mountain maples is Acer spicatum and vine maple is Acer circinatum. im thinking some type of ivy. maybe boston ivy (looking at the leaf shape) or some sort.

My friend Nao identified it as cotoneaster Lucidus . Looking at photos and the berries I think he nailed it .

We don't often have good color in SE Michigan because we don't get a frost until late and the leaves just sort of slowly go crummy instead of suddenly coloring up. I have purposely kept my trees in good condition and we should get a frost pretty soon so I can beat this Korean Hornbeam picture from long ago...

Hornbeam is near peak. Everything else lagging behind. Had to put the net on the pond as my 2 giant Maple's are falling.
