With all of this Arctic Vortex stuff going on, I thought some of you Mid-Western and East-Coasters would enjoy some flower pics. Everyone else feel free to add more!

We have had a very mild winter. Many of my Chinese elms are starting to bud.

Sadly that also means... no peaches for me again this year :(

No peaches for us as well. Weather throwing a monkey wrench into our bonsai calendar. Early repot and root work season.

That gardenia looks like camelia.

These are so beautiful. Are any of them bonsai? So nice to see color right now, but I wouldn't trade your summer heat for my winter cold ever!

I was thinking, that was the biggest Gardenia I had ever seen! But you live in California, so I figured it was possible. .

No, I know that is a camellia. There is even a prettier one right next to it (that blooms a little later). When I was first starting out, I always tried to remember acid-loving plants by repeating "camellia, gardenia, azalea" over and over. I guess it was just a mental slip when I was typing and not paying 100% attention - I don't own a single gardenia :)

It is funny to look back and see this thread! February in SoCal was one of the coldest on record. It was the first time in 140 years that not a single day hit 70 degrees in LA. Snow in Las Vegas, and quite a number of days of frost.

Prunus mume 'ben chi dori'

Just a few more days of nice weather before the back yard is covered in white cherry flowers! Too bad it's back to just a couple of degrees above zero after a short hot spell. The larches have woken up 1 month earlier than last year.
