What area will you be working in? Everyone I know that worked at Argonne has retired. My father is a metalergist for a long gone steel company and would take us to see the Peirre David deer (white deer from China) that where in the grounds when we were kids. Also got to run around the labs and meet a lot of the people that work there.
Tried to take my daughter there a couple of years ago and the place was closed to the public. She wants to be an engineer.

I would be hard pressed to pick favorites. Nearly 1000 trees to view. Hopefully in a month all the trees will be on benches to view!

They don't ship...I recall Mr.Pall stating as much. Sadly I've to much going on for a road trip right now. I sure could go for an emotional pick me up. Been in a funk...then, heard some sad news from two good friends today. So...my eyes feel like sand paper from them leaking off and on today. Spent time in the greenhouse just tinkering...watering trees and trying to get away from my mind.

Thanks...I will check out that on FB. I'm not holding my breath...I don't see any material coming my way until end of the month just for pictures. At least from Scott. Will see if Jenifer is shipping things out.
The original one...is so busy...he's cool and Beastly...but yes the we wasn't to get seems to be everyone's favorite. He melts into one. Just offers so much love. He's getting along just well too.
My body is sore from the other one though. He has to be on ones lap and he is none to gentle getting there. Then we have the Aussie who is going to lick my face raw trying to comfort me. Lol just in a funk...and their news didn't help. My funk is nothing what they are going through. I keep reminding myself that...thanks Sorce.

Cute pup...love the Merle coloring. My own Aussie is that color. But all pups deserve a home for ones to love on them, I'm sure the one who arrives is just the one your family needed. I know Larry was that way for us...as was Sebulba.

Where will you be living?
For bonsai the Morton Arboretum is just west of Argonne. There is the Prairie State Bonsai Socity. Then the Chicago Botanic Gardens in Glencoe has a very nice collection on display and many more not on display. The Midwest Bonsai Society meets there.
Ivan Watters is holding classes at the Morton Arboretum, there is someone new at the Chicago Botonic Garden, maybe Chicago1980 will pop on and give you his name as he took classes with him.

Cool! Actually I will be living on site. Argonne lab has housing facilities and for the program I'm in they provide me with a place. A huge plus since I commute and travel by bike most of the time.

The project was put on hold for a bit since its not funded and belongs to my lab mentor. But recently I've been able to change projects and now hold the reins (not really) working on mycelium experiments! I can't really share the details too much since the patent does not belong to me and research is still underway.

Nice, can't wait to hear about it when you're ready. There's a whole world of potential out there for sure and it would be such a good thing to reduce reliance on plastics etc.
