Well, there’s eBay. Matt Ouwinga puts his pots on eBay. He has more than 1000 listed! Contact him directly for a better price. Then there’s the Facebook auctions. Every week someone sells some pretty nice pots.

Beautiful tree, thank you for sharing! Question that I feel is (semi-) relevant to the thread: do you grow your pre-bonsai and bonsai materials in a bonsai soil mix? Or does it depend on other factors?

When I bought this tree, about 2 years prior to the beginning of this thread, it had just been dug from the field in California, and shipped bare root to Plant City in Georgia. There were 3 of them. I cut down three large pots, and potted each of them into 3 inch pans in Boon Mix. All lived. I didn’t cut many (if any) roots at that first potting, my goal was to get them healthy in pots. The other two were sold. I bought one.

I kept it in the cut down pan for three years until I potted it as described in this thread.

Pretty much anything I have in a pot will be in Boon’s Mix.
