This is Acer koto himi over a 1 year period, feb 2019 to march 2020 from a garden centre tree
people tend to fuss over scars n chops, i positioned this one so its not even obvious it was chopped. it will likely heal over as the tree grows, there is no need to grow out a two foot leader.

Chinese Elm over 3-4 year period,
it was a nice tree but i made a descision to drastically cut it back to produce a better quality tree

Japananese maple i did some carving on, the second image is a year later in the new owners hands, see how the carving has added character to the tree, looks like it could be sitting in a field

If there is one maple i wish i kept, its this one. this will be a very good naturalistic style tree, i dont know how it looks today but it would be if i kept it.

As a beginner these types of threads were invaluable to me. there's a popular bonsai before n after thread on facebook ive learnt so much from.
