Cal juniper repot

Repotted juniper today and did a third restyle and wire job. Each restyle gets better and better. Maybe now I can concentrate on ramification.

Finished today. This pot is 2 inches shallower and is the same size in dimension except height.


Tree is 36 inches tall from top edge of pot.

What would happen if I took that weak foliage off at the top and brought it down to the better apex?

It would be MUCH more to my liking. The pointed triangle seems somehow dated to me. With the sharp tip gone it is more of a modern crown.

I like the second pic making it a shorter more compact tree and more modern like Walter pointed out. I would probably slant the tree to the left, increasing the taper, larger base, IMo makes the nice movment stand out more.

looks more like a juniper and less like a young pine.... I really like the lower crown..... now... for some gnarly branches

I think it looks better with the change, but to the extent that if the apex were a bit fuller and the whole a bit more ramified, I'd like the top back in place a little more.

Update. It's getting to the point of trimming and rewire. Saving that for winter.
