Seed
Hello all.
New to bonsainut despite being a lurker for quite a while, thought I would introduce myself and make a post.
I live in Scotland. Currently my growing space is a sheltered balcony. South East facing and sheltered.
I've grown/killed sticks in pots for the last 10 years or so. In 2023, prior to my move up to Scotland all my trees died due to neglect (long distance relationship ey) I decided to quit bonsai.
Come the next spring I started a job as a gardener and started collecting trees once again. Since then I've abandoned all my other hobbies in favor of taking bonsai "seriously," I've decided to focus on growing pines, specifically Pinus sylvestris. I am also involved in nature conservation work and the study and documentation of historical and ancient conifers here in Scotland and the UK.
I germinated seeds from a cone collected in 2024. Which are doing nicely and this year I germinated 4 batches of P. sylvestris. Estimated at about 200 seeds sown.
As I have spacial limitations, I will probably just focus on growing and documenting these trees until my partner and I eventually buy some land and hopefully I can start some form of garden and nursery.
The continuation of this thread will be a general overview of my balcony and bonsai shenanigans. Updates of non pine related trees. Etc
Thanks
