Hello again.
An example-case of carving on a Prunus Cerasifera with the untouched viewing side
before "the grind" and afterwords.
The tree itself is not a cracker-one, 'just an object of trial.
It had a dry truncpart from the base untill the top.
First I removed the dry bark with a coarse steelbrush in a powertool.
Then I did the carvings.
The wood of Prunus-species is nice to carv. 'Quiet hard and good to be bleeched with
lime-sulphur.
The design is not finished yet. The whiteness of the sublime parts is too unnatural bright,
but time and wether will give a humble patina to that.
'Hope youlike ...

Looks good. Did you hollow out part of the core of the deadwood? If so what did you use? Also, what did you use to die the inside of the holes that blackish color?

Mattspiniken,
I hollowed the trunc with:
- a powertool 6mm (the terrier by Graham Potter)
- a 3mm carvingtool (by Chris R. from the UK)
- and two simple wood-drills with larger diameters.
The "black" of the excavatins is base on a simple wood-stain
from the hardware-store.

Dale Cochoy, in Ohio USA, sells some fabulous carving tools, including a stainless steel Terrier type bit. I have a couple from Dale....they are excellent.
