Well this is the second time I have reworked the branches. Problem with cork elms is they chunk up really fast on the branches so you have be careful they don't get too thick, too fast. This year I am starting to work on fine ramification. So I think I have been working on these branches three years(?) Even now the apex isn't correct and it is a little too tall for my final design but I think I can nuance it via trimming it back instead of lopping it off.

This is from an old air layer that I took off the top of this tree about ten years ago. You can see the lines of the new tree in the top of the old one.
