I am very happy with how this tree is progressing, and decided to give it a thread. Three seasons ago, I picked up this plant from HD. It was just labeled "Lagerstromia," but it seemed to have very small leaves, and fine growth for the species (maybe a dwarf?). I threw it in the ground and hedge pruned it for two seasons.

In the spring of 2022, I put it in a mica pot and started its bonsai journey. Yesterday, I did some minor tweaks. In March/April it will get a beautiful blue Bunzan pot to go with its white flowers and gorgeous fall color!

Since its leaning, it may be better put on the other side of the pot so it looks balanced overall?

Thanks for this info, I have been learning about CM from @Johnnyd. Those pictures are rough mockups. I will probably pot it a little off center to the right to balance it out.
