Mame JBP

I just wanted to show you what can be done relatively faster with JBP for those that like mame or shohin
The first tree is less than 10 cm high and in need of cut back..

Most of the time mames are made from airlayers...so if you have a sacrifice branch instead of throwing it away try a mame from airlayer.

Its Damn sad that we cannot get any type of pines at our nurseries here and so difficult to get our hands on any descent material like Pines,Spruces & larch.

Joe I can five you a link to forestry department...they have 4 type of pines and 2 are suitable for our conditions...and both make exactly the same bonsai as JBP...there is a guy in Italy that makes very very nice trees from them...like halipensis.
Halipensis I collected seeds near Costa.s house...and You will be shocked how fast they grew...and they make fantastic bonsai...Go collect some seeds. Costa knows where it is.

Gives me some great ideas for the future. I'm excited about the air-layers so that I have either more options for 2-point displays or, with this method, perhaps a full mame or shohin display!
For some reason it never occurred to me to take branches that I'm going to get rid of and just layer them for tiny trees. Makes me feel a little sheepish but that why I'm here...not too proud to learn.

I water mine ones or twice a day now (beginning of winter) but they are under 30% shade. In summer ones twice and on rare occasions when very hot (Africa) 3 times.

One came from Japan...I have a number of mames...a lot actually...including white pine on rock mame, cork bark pine mame...and yatsubusas mame. Made some of the twisted ones also...
I gave a small demo at the garden fair, Tokyo, ...so I kept the pine as memory.
