All in all its got a long way to go to get to where I have envisioned for it but has come pretty to far too.

Hehe, pine n such you can make look nice with one nice wireing as opposed to deciduous that take a long time. Honestly they all take time lol

how do you prevent the tree from bleeding out from the shari you created or isnt that a problem?

The only tree you really need to worry about bleeding out is the Japanese Maple if cut back to heavily in the Spring.

Spruce pull the cambium in tight and don't bleed when dormant

As a newbie, I've been on the fence about spruce or anything with needles for that fact, but this tree is absolutely gorgeous.

@Giga is this the same as the "Blue Wonder" Spruce?

This looks like Colorado Blue even though there are other species of Spruce tha produce blue needles in the spring. The bluest of all of them I am aware of is the Kosterii Blue.

I almost purchased one this weekend. It was smaller, just labeled Colorado Blue Spruce from a box store..... my thinking was that it would be better because the trunk would be easier to create movement.
