New display area

Hmm, I will see if I can manage that. My phone will take a video, it's just figuring out how to post it then... Media savvy, I am not.

Very nice. You gonna put mulch/stone down under the benches?

Mulch if anything, but probably not. This area is filled with vinca vine ground cover, which has just gotten trampled, but will fill back in very quickly. Stone radiates heat a little more than I like, I have it in my sunny area, which is ok, as it's mostly conifers.
Thanks rockm.

I should add that these particular misters have a volume control, that also serves as a pattern control. So you can get very specific about where the cone of water goes.

If they are from the same place you showed me a few years back I agree they worked great at the old place. If I step it back up here next year to benches I am happy I have a bunch of them stored. Great product and easy to work with! The new setups there look good! Load them up! :)

Grimmy

yes same parts, just the mister heads instead of the sprinklers. Thanks Grim!

Looks nice, a great space to show off and take care of your trees. Can you share more info on the sprinkler/misting system? You have sparked my interest in creating a similar set up in my yard.

How do you keep the deer and other animals away from the area?

that looks like a place i could relax. nice garden

I will do that when I have a chance, working some long hours this weekend, but will put up a thread about the watering system alone, since I've had others interested in it.

I hand water. Though I found an in-ground irrigation system while working over there today, so I may have that option down the road.

I think you have a pretty amazing system. You've considered what you need, potential problems and have set up an attractive pipeline. Are there things you wished you'd done that you didn't?

looks wonderful judyb....I am keeping designs in the back of my mind for the future. I do like the idea of a backdrop with your setup....like the image attached. But everything looks wonderful truly as is. thanks for sharing and giving me some ideas.

interesting watering system. I like it. Definitely will have to consider putting something like that in to cut down on maintenance of my trees, esp. while I'm away. At the same time one of my favorite things to do is get home from work, relax and water my trees to unwind. So I'm torn. It's probably better to water them in the morning, but it is what it is.

it would be really nice if I'm not there...that's for sure. Luckily I am saving for a house and am not as tempted to go on vacation so the "what to do with bonsai while I'm on vacation" hasn't been a big problem yet

Looking good. It inspires me to design an overhead system--I would need a whole new garden though. Mine is a bonzo compound--not a garden--sigh...
.

Fred, I think that the system has evolved along with the trees, so the only thing I would have done is started with higher benches to begin with. Looking down on the trees too much is the wrong angle. Up here wind protection is paramount, so building that wind house was the best thing we did. My beech keeps it's spring leaves perfectly now.
@erb, it really doesn't read as busy as it does in the pictures. In person, it's easily separated visually as the stuff behind is a pretty decent distance behind. And that is primarily what I use the system for, when we are on vacation, or when I'm working 12-16 hour days like I am this weekend.
Well crust, you've got the design chops, and the wood skillz, so I'd really love to see your compound transformed. It's really worth the work, to have a zen space. It's like a gift.
