The future of our planet

Is this really enough ? Can you reverse the damage ? Can you prove it please ?
It probably is not enough. I doubt we can reverse the damage, but we can for sure try how far we can get, and work at not making it worse.
climate gate was proof they were cooking the books. A lot of prominent scientist lost their jobs and their tenureship.
Oh really..? https://www.ucsusa.org/global-warmi...misinformation-stolen-emails-climategate.html
Furthermore.. That was nearly a decade ago. I think it is fairly clear to people who look at the weather that things are not like they are even 20 years ago.

Let's look at the independent analysis done of the emails & allegations towards the academics involved, as quoted on "https://www.skepticalscience.com/Climategate-CRU-emails-hacked-advanced.htm".
(For those interested, the report, and also the conclusions below are at http://www.cce-review.org/). (But I know. You will say the report was cooked as well by someone making money off climate change)

So when put into the proper context, what do these emails actually reveal about the behaviour of the CRU scientists? The report concluded (its emphasis):
https://www.skepticalscience.com/Climategate-CRU-emails-hacked-advanced.htm said:
Climate science is a matter of such global importance, that the highest standards of honesty, rigour, and openness are needed in its conduct. On the specific allegations made against the behaviour of CRU scientists, we find that their rigour and honesty as scientists are not in doubt.

In addition, we do not find that their behaviour has prejudiced the balance of advice given to policy makers. In particular, we did not find any evidence of behaviour that might undermine the conclusions of the IPCC assessments.

But we do find that there has been a consistent pattern of failing to display the proper degree of openness, both on the part of the CRU scientists and on the part of the UEA, who failed to recognize not only the significance of statutory requirements but also the risk to the reputation of the University and indeed, to the credibility of UK climate science. [1.3]

These general findings are more or less consistent across the various allegations the Review investigated. Its specific findings are summarized in the following rebuttals: "Did CRU tamper with temperature data?", "What does Mike's Nature trick to 'hide the decline' mean?", "Climategate and the peer-review process", "Were skeptic scientists kept out of the IPCC?", and "Climategate and the Freedom of Information (FOI) requests".

The science is unchanged by Climategate
The argument that Climategate reveals an international climate science conspiracy is not really a very skeptical one. It is skeptical in the weak sense of questioning authority, but it stops there. Unlike true skepticism, it doesn’t go on to objectively examine all the evidence and draw a conclusion based on that evidence. Instead, it cherry-picks suggestive emails, seeing everything as incontrovertible evidence of a conspiracy, and concludes all of mainstream climate science is guilty by association. This is not skepticism; this is conspiracy theory.
In reality, Climategate has not thrown any legitimate doubt on CRU’s results, let alone the conclusions of the entire climate science community. The entire work of CRU comprises only a small part of the evidence for AGW. There are all sorts of lines of evidence for global warming, and for a human influence on climate, which in no way depend on the behaviour of the CRU scientists.

Oh, and there is no indication anywhere of massive numbers of people losing jobs or tenure. Where did you get that information from?
I should have taken the advice earlier on and stayed out..

Yes but how do we know this is not just the planet going through it cycles and doing it’s thing?

And... I understand I’m starting to feel the same way, these are sensitive topics but it’s still fun to talk about

Yes but how do we know this is not just the planet going through it cycles and doing it’s thing?

We know that is it exactly. Fools like this sissified emasculated french infidel just want to do the devils work and try to make us feel bad because we don't agree with the socialists and we actually have a strong leader that stands for American sovereignty and will not bow to the likes of the cowards in the EU!:p!

:p

Fake news!

Just one example: look at the chart about the ozone layer. If these scientists hadn't warned the world of the danger of CFCs, we would all have been fried out long ago:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chlorofluorocarbon#Environmental_impacts

Looking forward to reading from you soon....

AK ;)
A little known fact: The hole in the Ozone layer was discovered in the early 50's before CFC's were even invented. The hole was discovered by a Canadian research group in the Antarctic. It was not until the company that owned the patent on CFC's found that their exclusivity to the formula was about to expire and they would have to open up their patent to the production of generic copy products severely cutting into their profits. So--, as the story goes they made a giant argument that CFC's were creating a hole in the Ozone layer. Governments abound the world condemened the use of these polutants, and the corporation that made CFC coolants started manufacturing another product. They infact protected their business by making a new patent and making the old patent about to expire illegal. The rest is history.
Again: Real science is not a contest to see how many scientists agree or disagree.

POTUS Donald Trump is re-establishing the position of USA around the World, in a Good & Positive way...
Schumer, Pelosi, Durban, all besides themselves & trying to bring down the POTUS. all to no avail...

This Michigan weather is so mild lately I'm considering moving my Bonsai Maples back onto the outdoor Patio ?

Hey Gogeerah,

word to the WISE ---------------- Hidden Agendas.
Those expressing opinions here, may not even believe in them in
reality.
Winter is here, and boredom runs amok.

Gotta beat that Cabin Fever somehow.

From the 68 deg. F and holding morning Isle.

Well... I hate to wade into this conversation without a full can of ammo, but I'm a big believer in science and logic. If you dig up 300 million years worth of carbon and spew it into the atmosphere, returning the atmosphere to more or less the same state it was when dinosaurs walked the surface of the Earth... why do you believe the climate isn't going to change to more or less the same state?

Unless someone is going to argue that CO2 isn't a greenhouse gas :)

Yeah I know science is never perfect, but I have yet to hear anyone argue that more CO2 in the atmosphere is a GOOD thing. They always try to deflect or deny. So if no is willing to argue that more CO2 is good... can we agree that less CO2 would be good? Less pollution would be good?

People who argue that no one can exactly prove climate change so that means lets go out and pollute even MORE need to have their heads examined. Instead of Trump lying to a bunch of coal miners in Pennsylvania that more coal burning is good for ANYONE I would much rather go to those same coal miners and say - we are here to give you jobs that aren't going to kill your grandchildren - and train them to make twice as much money in the solar panel industry.

of course less pollution is the goal, I just hope to see it actually progress over the next10,20,30,40years, for my kids sake, its really about how we raise our children, unfortunately I'm sure our wallets will feel it , and a high percentage of Americans can barley afford to eat, that is those who purchase food from local supermarkets or stores, and again unfortunately , over population and generations coming along only worrying about their social media status , blah blah blah. we need to be teaching gardening and at the least semi self reliance , personal crop growing , etc., and we could go on and on and on, gives me a headache.

I try not to worry myself over it too much, its sad that I feel I have to carry a gun every where I go (that's right ,to protect myself and family if necessary, i pray that day never comes again)in this day and age. with that being said this is the world we live in, yes there any many people who are looking to do their "part" well say, but the masses could give a shit , they just want my wallet, so they can go get another........

ok my headache is coming back and I'm rambling again, apologies

these are such sensitive topics

i feel like "c'mon asteroidso_Oo_O:(" sometimes...loving life :cool:truely

I try not to worry myself over it too much, its sad that I feel I have to carry a gun every where I go

Perplexing logic. What's the point?

Don't know about fish either, though some may be worried by the over-exploitation of fish resources and the consequence of global warming on the food-chain, but anyway, there's more and more sand on the planet in which people can bury their heads into. And unfortunately, in some places it's not going to change soon according to the latest polls.

Went to the supermarket after work to buy my 87-year-old mum a trolley, you know the kind of thing old ladies take for shopping. I've never ever thought of "guns", I never needed one, I didn't buy her one. There's a city council bus that can take elderly people shopping for free. It's paid by my taxes, and my neighbours', for all the elders in the community.

Some of you would probably call that "communism". It is not. It's just a different culture I suppose. It's probably that we try to spend more energy and resources on making our world here on eath a better world for everyone.

"it's sad that I feel I have to carry a gun every where I go"

I pity you. Living in such paranoia must be horrible.

"I try not to worry myself over it too much": so do I - for myself! I still hope that mankind can progress. And I think it's my responsability not to leave chaos to my sons.

But I worry about their future. I worry about my mother and my children, and all the people around me - and I don't need religion for that, I'm a grown-up that can tell what's right from wrong.

Santa Claus is dead, the earth is not flat. We hold the future in our hands.

- End of ranting. -

@AlainK yes it is sad my friend , I’m not the only one who feels they need to, I’m not paranoid I just like to be ready for anything ?

When a stranger that I try and help then sticks a gun in my face tells my wife to get out of the car and he’s going to kill me and my then 3 year old son , you better believe I’ll be carrying a gun from now on . Let it happen to you and see how you feel bud

Not paranoid just ready ?, I live in a small quiet rural farming community, ‘‘tis a pity

I don't know what to answer.

I've been to many places in my own country and abroad, and I've never felt I was in danger.

Of course, these are countries where law-abiding people are not allowed to carry guns (why should they?), places where when you can't find a hotel people give you a place to rest, share their meager dinner with you.

I've always tought that wherever you go, you meet nice, friendly people. That you bring along your own values that are shared by the overwhelming majority of the people who welcome strangers. May be different where yiou live, I don't know, I've been throughout old Europe, but never crossed the Atlantic.

Wanted to, but considering what's going on there, I don't think I would any longer. I'm a coward: I wouldn't like to cross the path of anyone carrying a gun, who would?

Anyway, the question was: "What's the future of our planet?"

When so many support the stupid answers from some countries, or their masters (there are several), I really find it appalling.
