Great thread. Love me some shohin.

Nothing special, but here ya go. Euonymous (dwarf burning bush). 3 yrs in. Can only prune heavy once per year. I’m only getting 2 solid flushes of growth. I’m going to give the obligatory newbie (even though I’m 7 yrs in) phrase in front of this pic. “It looks better in person”. ??

And that wiring though. Ouch.?F8D98CC6-21EC-4BCD-A419-64E973097E3B.jpeg

Ficus wiandi. This one was literally a stick in a pot 5 yrs ago...and in some ways still is. Wiandi has great character, but hates wire. Hard to control the direction of growth. The leaves always drop during the transition between winter and spring after a long winter inside with not quite enough light. It will be packed with growth in 3 weeks or so.8FF90B19-B32A-4476-A860-AFF5B43B7B40.jpeg

As the Shohin Exhibition has just passed, I figured now would be a good time to BUMP. THIS. THREAD!!!!!

My meager contribution. Exposed root Pink pixie bougainvillea. Loads of issues, but I’ve had it since the beginning and I can’t bring myself to making drastic changes. 249787249788

This tree is technically not a Shohin. But at the National Shohin Exhibition, Bill asked for displays small trees under 12 inches. This Itoigawa won Best in Show:

Ficus BD (Small Leaf) in Taiwanese pot. Even on the rock its just hitting 20cm
Here you go Milly, thank you. A wide shot to give you the feeling of open summer that I was after.
Next is a bit closer, the rack clockwise from left top is JWP, Japanese Beautyberry (shout out to @MACH5 ) Zelkova, Goji Berry. The secondary tree on the stand to the right is Eleaegnus. That is the tree that won the award for Best broadleaf evergreen.
I have to send a huge thanks to @Owen Reich too. Firstly, he's been a big influence on my work, and bringing me up to the level that I could even think about being in this arena. Not to mention the acquisition of first rate material, which is of course key. But also for encouraging me to step out of my comfort zone to take part in this event, it will not be my last, as it was such a great experience. Adair, and Sergio and Brian also nudged me in their own ways to get out there. I can say that it's a bit intimidating, but the lesson learned is so worth it.
