I think I’ve been growing this beautyberry for four years now… it seems to be starting to get into shape. A lot of berries coming this year.
I sprayed it with b-9 and it really does seem to help with shorter internodes and berries closer to the trunk.
For a long time I didn’t know what to do with this. A great example of someone saying “have you tried changing the angle.

Hi guys!
I understand I post against the guidelines of the thread as my trees are in preparation.
I saw an opportunity of a first post before the real transformation happen!
As a preview a tree that has been repoted from growing pot and rewired this year, project started in 2024.
Recent work:
2024 First sketch thinking of possible face designs in an attempt to understand what Im doing!
Chosen face / first placement May 24'
2025 Second placement and repotting
The "final" pot is coming in a few years!
Other work in progress
Not in proper pots and far from show ready but first placement is done plus preparation of deadwood for some trees.
The pines will be decandle / partialy decandle in one or two weeks.

Lil guy, 2” tall maybe?
I started this beautyberry from a cutting a few years ago, they grow quick and this already has interesting roots. I’m mostly dicking around here but I want to see how small I can make one. It’s already producing flowers so it will have some berries this year.
I’m not sure I can make this look good. I’m mostly invested from a forward looking perspective.

How well do the leaves reduce when you do a partial defoliation?

Not sure, I haven’t done it yet. These are more about the leafless berry display though, and I don’t know that you can defoliate and still get berries.
I don’t have a tree tax pic handy so here’s a pic of a dog gazing longingly at cheese

Small ROR trident, 5 seasons old from seed. Stone collected from the sidewalk/pavement outside my house. Thick right branch will be removed next season after I use the long whips for grafts.

Doesn't this one have the potential of growing itself off the rock? Seems like it needs a root on the opposite side of the rock.
