Worked on this pine over the past few days - it’s with the other in semi-cold storage. Gonna start moving some of my maples in for Friday and Saturday, we’re looking at a high of 16

I repotted this Podocarpus lawrencii 'Red Tip' today. I changed the planting angle by about 30 degrees (maybe 45) with the left side being the lowest end.

I did learn a lesson about wire placement for tie-downs. If able, put the wires just outside of your rootball and not the furtherest corners available lol. A little better foresight on my part would have made for a neater tie-down that I wasn't embarrassed about.

Anyways, I didn't get to pruning this yet. I haven't fully looked at what i could play with as I was more focused on seeing what the roots looked like first and foremost.



A close up on the root structure that I changed the planting angle to expose. The substrate isn't my first choice, but a friend gave it to me and I was happy to use it to reduce the clutter in the garage.

Defoliated and potted this old rough bark Coast live oak. used to be a beautiful twin trunk but a few years ago it suffered major dieback and lost the entire larger trunk. I suspect borers.
I put it in a large grow box to recover for the last 6 years , carved out where the trunk died, and just moved it back to a bonsai pot.

This pair/set.. Originally I had it attached to the straight portion of the partial-round.. but I did not trust my seam,so they were separated, but must stay together, for intent's purposes.

I studied the nebari, structure and lean of this green mountain boxwood I picked up in the clearance section and came to no conclusions of how to shape it what-so-ever!

Not bonsai unfortunately because I sure am ready for my trees to grow. But I did wrap up this huge installation at the local children’s science museum today. It’s a slat wall with individual members that fold down and up to create ever changing options of shelves. This is the shelving for the retail section of the museum. The museum is called Explora if your curious. 900+ washers, 400+ spring washers, 400+ holes drilled, over 1500 lineal feet of hard maple. Quite the project!

And for bonsai business, here is a big elm I cut back just a touch.
