A bonsai buddy misplaced his jin pliers awhile back. Five minutes after he texted me that he found it I was cursed with misplacing my branch cutters which was the first tool I ever bought when I was a kid. Luckily I carved my last name into them.

So now I'm marking my tools with copper foil tape because I'm always taking them to classes, work on the collection trees, or going bonsai study group. Only got these ones done. I'll finish the rest later.

Picked up some trees my late father in law raised. Been at his son‘s for 5 years. He kept these alive, but decided to give them up. Each needs a good amount of attention.

Plan is to work on these, repotting each, get each robust and healthy. Then restyle as needed with goal to improve each. After that some may be headed for a new home.

Blue Atlas Cedar… bad photo angle - will be pruned and wired to full cascade soon.

Shipaku raft on a rock - first thing muck the exposed roots and push back, wire the foliage.

Another shimpaku, way old. Looks like it was in the ground for quite awhile. No photo can capture this trunk properly and this one didn’t either.

Three tridents in a pot…. likely rework this and mabe add some trees.

Larch of some type. Top died in the big heat dome. Needs to be restyled and pushed way back

Hinoki cypress. Some branches on one side died or weakened during the heat dome. It’s come back and needs a restyle

Mugo Pine - my Better Half repotted this tree, then worked with Jonas to get started on this tree before it was gifted to us.

This elm has been doing poor for a while now, so I gave it a bit more room to relax. I'll put it into a larger box and let it regain some energy before too long.

Success on a lemon/sour orange hybrid air layer from my tree, bagged this one up around early July. I have one more to go, and I need to up pot my air layer from last year.

Looks a little scraggly at the moment but so did last year's air layer. coarse and chunky perlite and cocopeat in the nursery can, about 60:40 in favor of perlite.

Yes, this is the fourth one I have found in 3 years of living here.
My husband got bit by one of those 10 or 15 years ago. Put him in the hospital for 2 days and he still has the scar on his back where it bit him and started necrosis of his tissues
