Bonsai Nut
Nuttier than your average Nut
When you are visiting BonsaiNut, in what screen resolution do you view the site? (If you view the site in windowed mode, estimate the approximate width with which you feel most comfortable viewing the site)
What kind of monitor size are you at for that resolution?
I agree, 1920 x 1080 seem very high to me. First thought was people must be using laptops, but now I realize they must be on the new flat/wide monitors. I still run mine at 800x600 (older flat screen /CTR ). I set it to the 1920 x 1080 last night just to see how it looks. Too small for me and very intense, hurt my eyes. I thought most web sites had moved from the 800x600 to the 1024x768 as standard ? subnet rx, is that correct ?

1680x1050 here at home with a 21" flat screen monitor.

So we won't need to sit hunched in front of the monitor?
I guess the way to think about it is that 1900 width on a 26" monitor is very close to 1024 width on a 15" monitor (because the monitors are measured on the diagonal). So if you like the way your screen looks at 1024 width on a 15" monitor, you would notice no difference in text size moving to a 26" screen and 1900 width - there would just be more on the screen at once.
I can easily open two applications at once and work on them side by side, or for that matter, read a document with two pages open simultaneously (like reading a book). Of course, if I ever want to increase text size, I can always just hold down the "ctrl" key and use the wheel on my mouse to increase or decrease it on the fly (without changing screen resolution).
Try it!
The benefit would be the ability to view large images while at the same time having larger and more legible type.
