5yr Native Tree Challenge Forrestford's Acer Rubrum

Tree has been left alone, roots escaped the pot which is what I want. I carved the trunk a bit more and added wood filler. This pic is from April.
The deer keep getting to my red maples. It’s discouraging but it keeps them away from my Japanese maples.
I’m hoping the wound callouses this year and maybe I’ll repot next spring.
Got a several in this stage of development.
