Asheville Bonsai Expo 2019

I am so sad I missed this. If you can believe it, on Thursday I stopped into Asheville to have lunch at Tupelo Honey on my way to a family reunion in the mountains. My parents were celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary, so bonsai was a lower priority... this visit. Great to see so much passion! Asheville is amazing!

Come in June for the next one, it won't be in October and Ryan Oneil is gonna be there as the guest artist, i just hope they add more awards

Is there a spread sheet somewhere with all the past show winners?

I apologize for bringing this question up, but I am about to book a cabin for Asheville in June of next year. Does anyone know when the expo is next year? If so I can make sure I’m there for it.

im not 100% on this but I think its the second weekend

Re do you think they are better than osakazuki?
Osakazuki is coarse branched and foliated. This is my experience even in a garden setting. They make nice big specimen trees and respond well to espalier training.

The Asheville Bonsai Expo has moved to I believe June, but someone can chime in. Hotels are crazy expensive during fall color season, and this will help mitigate that issue for all who attend from out of town.

I support the decision, but it is pretty darn beautiful that weekend every year there.

Well I support the reason to do it mainly so I can attend Burnpile next year, which is a really amazing beer festival in asheville, but I wonder if World bonsai day will still be in May or if they will change that event or get rid of it?

The last 3 years my wife and I have vacationed in October in Asheville. She intentionally scheduled it so I could attend the Bonsai show. This year I agreed to go on June and skip the show. Now it looks like I’m in luck...and if there’s a beer festival at the same time...fantastic ..

oh sorry the beer festival is in october, not june, but if you come find me we can have a mini beer festival in the parking lot

not like burnpile which was at the same time as the main event on saturday this year, I could have gone to it but I chose to spend my time meeting you fine people and I am glad I did
Call it what you want... I went to downtown Asheville, and patronage’s several establishments, and they had more d@mn weird beers than I ever thought existed!

No doubt..I visited quite a few places..love that town. Even found a bar that had an OSU Alumni club fur the Ohio State game
