I thought it was a cherry, thanks for that. That's the best kind of wine, the kind you can't remember the next day!
I was drinking cognac too?. @markyscott went looking for shiners but came up empty. I think he settled for a local IPAI love the pic of Adair drinking wine and chopping a JBP! Like a boss!

Well, I'd say the re-pot was helpful as far as vigor goes. The tree was strong enough that it was partially defoliated and I finally was able to cut back the apical sacrifice branch. The other one with the real junk in the trunk. This one hasn’t been as vigorous last few years and I suspect the roots may have contributed. I did a pretty aggressive soil change out and hope to see increased strength this season. I’ve got a 1 year old graft destined to build the apex… if it grows well this spring, I’ll remove the sacrificial branch. Also, that Bigei pot is beginning to build some patina after only 4 years.

This one would have preferred to have stayed in GA or CA, but it’s still alive and growing. Time for a repot! My loot from the show. A stone from Jerry Braswell, a nice shohin jbp from Jonas Dupuich, and 2 shohin jbp purchased for a song at the auction. Adair and I did a little cleanup on them back at Boon’s. I also snagged a sweet sumo olive from Boon?.
