Just cuz it's leaning now, doesn't mean you can't plant it at a different angle later...I'm just lettin it do its thing until I can figure it out
Nah, I wasn’t sure if it was safe to and I question the necessity of doing so on a tree not close to being shown. If it doesn’t affect health I may thoughHave you ever peeled the flakey bark off???
Yeah that’s about what I started with, a one gall shimp from Brent. But this tree has surprised me with its development so far, it’s become one of my better trees actually, and hopefully the same will happen with yours. Can’t say it wasn’t greatly due to @Brian Van Fleet ’s guidence. Also Once they’re happy they are really fast growers and will take some abuse, although I’m not sure what I did right to make mine so happy lol!I'm just lettin it do its thing until I can figure it out
You should go ahead and remove the bark from the ten-jin, since the foliage is gone, that bark will not be easy to remove once the living tissue is dead underneath. It’s looking healthy. The sulfur did it’s job. Now I just wish I could safely take the bark off to contrast with the white.

In other news, I guy wired the foliage down to allow light to penetrate so When it recovers and it’s time to work there will be nice healthy interior foliage to cut back to.

I’d keep the trunk that’s moving left in the picture and Jin the rest in the future, it has potential but just needs some time for sure. Here's a few more pics of mine. And I hope I'm not hijacking man. I just really like your progress and any thoughts you have would be great
The foliage was removed, but on the lower jins the stubs are still throwing buds out even though I’ve been rubbing them off when I notice, meaning its still not dead- is it safe to proceed? You should go ahead and remove the bark from the ten-jin, since the foliage is gone, that bark will not be easy to remove once the living tissue is dead underneath. I’m referring to the areas circled in red. If the foliage is gone, get the bark off now before it dries up and is really tough to remove. The foliage was removed, but on the lower jins the stubs are still throwing buds out even though I’ve been rubbing them off when I notice, meaning its still not dead- is it safe to proceed?
I see what you mean, I did it today and it’s a big difference between alive and dead. I was just saying that the tree was backbudding/ trying to produce foliage on the branches that were stubbed. Must be healthy if it’s resisting that hard haha. Can’t wait to connect the Jin and Shari, it’ll really complete the design. Have to see how the tree is going to respond first. I’m not sure if I’m going to loose the potential drop branch in the back by cutting the bark so close so we’ll see, if it makes it I should be able to do a cool live vein surrounded by deadwood with it.I’m referring to the areas circled in red.
