Well if you enjoy bonsai, or even the concept of it, I would recommend you go out to a genuine bonsai nursery, see what they have, and buy a few more trees. The reason why I say this is (1) you live in ground zero for some of the best bonsai nurseries in the country and (2) it is inevitable that you will kill some trees - everyone does. It is much better to start with a number of trees so you can spread your care over several, because you have to learn when to work on a tree, and when to let it rest... sometimes for 6 months or more. It is easier to let one tree rest when you have others to work on...
