Really!? People can get blocked on this site? That sucks. I thought this was pretty much a free speech forum (marketplace of ideas theory ruled the day) and people could individually block voices they didn't want to hear from. Honestly that belief, which I now realize was misplaced, is something I really enjoyed about this site. It's so rare on the Internet to have a forum where people don't get blocked. The OP's comments were not spam, which was the line I thought at which filtering on here started. This whole thread could just be ignored by not clicking on it and we could all still possibly benefit from future comments made, and knowledge shared, by the OP.And you're blocked
I think this is all a cultural misunderstanding since OP is clearly in the UK, where "cunt" is like calling someone "pal". What's up cunt??

Maybe he was going for a kusamono or a shitakusaDid your grass turn into a bonsai yet? Maybe if you call it a cunt it'll do what you want![]()
My comment was a reply to a specific comment left by @BonjourBonsai. This site seems better than most at allowing heterodox conversations, so I was surprised that the OP had been so quickly "blocked." I now realize I probably misread this comment (that @BonjourBonsai had "blocked" the OP) to mean that the OP had been banned from this site. Maybe it just meant that that individual participant had set him to ignore. My bad. I certainly was not aware of any threats to the lives of any other commenters such as yourself. While hilarious, what part of the OP direct messaging me to kill myself, contributes to the exchange of ideas a free speech forum offers?
I see no reason why the fact that something is owned by someone means that it cannot be set up by that someone to allow for a more free exchange of ideas. I own my house e.g. and I can allow for more free expressions of speech here than would probably be allowed in a public square (no time, place, and manner restrictions). It being privately owned allows for that. So, I don't follow your logic. But it's OK. It's not worth discussing here.BTW, any website you use is owned by someone. There is no such thing as free speech online. You're welcome to go holler to your hearts content in the public square.
Nohing about a privately owned website has anything to do with "free speech." You always need moderation, or things devolve quickly. My comment was a reply to a specific comment left by @BonjourBonsai. Blocked is when you put someone on "ignore". All you have to do is click on their user name and choose the "ignore" option. If you desire, you can see a list of everyone you have on "ignore" in your user options, and you can remove people from your "ignore" list whenever you want. This way you have the power to decide if you want to converse with someone - versus that power residing with some site moderator. Note that when you "ignore" someone, that will include ignoring any private messages they send to you.Really!? People can get blocked on this site? That sucks. Generally speaking, I think once people become members of the site, they start to know and understand each other, understand the humor, understand the camaraderie. That said, people can always have a bad day.Nohing about a privately owned website has anything to do with "free speech." You always need moderation, or things devolve quickly.
^ That's what I meant. I never actually did it before but now I know.Blocked is when you put someone on "ignore". All you have to do is click on their user name and choose the "ignore" option.
That was a (failed) joke.^ That's what I meant. I never actually did it before but now I know.
BTW, the C word is still pretty offensive in the UK.
This is a recurring weird thing here and on other bonsai forums such as Reddit: people getting mad about advice that they're getting totally for free! Strangers on the Internet are taking time out of their busy days to lend free advice, and some people get mad about it.LOL this guy isnt gonna last here
Really a shame. I've been on here for about a year and found many very helpful and willing to give advice. There are so many, including some on this thread who took much abuse, who have tons of experience with these silly little trees that are more than willing to lend their time to help us newbies. It would be a real loss if idiots drove these resources away.In The 3 weeks I’ve been on this forum I’ve seen some really dumb arguments. I just dont understand why people act this way. None of this was necessary. I’m actually embarrassed
Its the world we live in. Everyone is by default mad. Could not agree more with treat people with respect and take some criticism well......And when you stop and look at what the arguments are about, you cant help but think that humans were never meant to communicate via chats. So much is interpreted through voice, demeanor etc....Really a shame. I've been on here for about a year and found many very helpful and willing to give advice. I also just asked a question and realized that I ruined another tree. It's not the fault of the answerer that I did this. I'm just grateful that he jumped in to advise me. In fact, I ask a shit ton of dumb ass questions and expect an answer because folks here are kind enough to provide answers. Let's try to treat each other with a modicum of respect, especially if someone is trying to help. If you don't like the answer just ignore it. You can even propose your own answers and challenge them.
It's literally crazy how many experts are regulars here. It's a real privilege to share the same forum with them.Really a shame.
