Japanese Maple (I can grow them here but it is very difficult)

As for the latter two, I hear they don't grow well in my area. Though, I have some small ones that have been growing vigorously for me the last two seasons, so maybe they should be off the list.

that may be... tho unless they simply can't take the cold, it doesn't get that cold here, then we can grow them. I know Daniel has some Sierra junipers (i know they are different). For most junipers including the RMJ we replace the foliage with Shimpaku to give it a better growing experience and look. RMJ competes well with Cali juni anyways for style

They can take the cold that you have. But what they cannot take is the lack of sunny days. Over here, the sky is blue almost year around.

lol the rain is a tactic we use to keep the rest of ya'll away... and the summers are Sunny... I can grow bougies outside and they love it.... so I'm guessing they would do just fine....

I know of quite a few really, really high quality California junipers here in the Portland area....the trick to keeping them alive in the PNW is getting rid of ALL native soil....That goes for all junipers, then no need to graft to make them happy
