Really ugly zelkova early in training. It’s only remnant from a gift from a friend, and is actually an air layer of an air layer. Maybe in 20 years it will be something. The color of the buds almost match the pot.

Continuing to work with Zuma from Bonsai West. If you’re nearby and can, I highly recommend it.

Japanese black pine. I need to get better at photos and making sure I take them dead on...

Spirea nipponica (snowmound spirea)
It’s supposed to produce summer flowers. Hopefully so as I don’t plan on trimming growth for some time. Needs recovery from an aggressive repot. So far so good.

love the bark. Though it seems like it’s going to take some serious time to heal those chops.
