Toyo Nishiki Clump

Really pretty. Nice to see some color. Seems the only color we've seen here is gray. Cold, gray days. :(

I would like to mention that as buds grow and flowers bloom aphids will come out and can spoil the show. I treat with pyrethrin spray after rain, and it works great. Insecticidal soap might work too, but I just have the former at hand.

Thanks, added to my personal notes.

Just yesterday, all these blossoms were white; I didn'ttake pictures, because I have no dark background. They certainly pop now that they've turned pink.
This one did not have a lot of strong growth, but was not harassed at all. No repotting for a long while. Just left to grow, and it ended with lots of flowers on its strong side. Also more mature side. Hopefully I'll have more flowers other side.

Looking good! Nice progression! I wired up a quince just last night and hope to order a few more soon. I really enjoy them.

I'm glad you enjoy them. They are very special 😊 and underrated.

I just repotted this one finally. It's been in a colander for ages! Roots are pretty fine. I'm trying out diatomaceous earth with the quince. I think it will like it. I also reworked some scars and added in thread grafts. Wiring is planned for tomorrow.
