Heyo! It’s just a DSLR with one softbox on a black background. Specifically, I use a Sony Alpha 1, a Profoto B1X and Godox lantern softbox.
Dang Isaiah, my girlfriend is a professional photographer/producer and she still doesn't have that nice of a kit 🤣

I used to photograph heavily for advertising and marketing for the hospitals and other businesses and my girlfriend shoots commercially for Rockwell Automation and Detailers Roadmap. So the household is a bit of a kit nerd(although she traitorously shoots with a Nikon 😝)

It’s been a busy collecting season. These are my first juniper yamadori after several years of getting skunked I finally found the pattern. (Don’t ask 🤐)

Three 1-seeds filled the mist tent in short order and expansion started yesterday, several masterpieces still to collect over next 2 weeks.

While out scouting for trees, I found a bit of PVC. Today, I cut out some suitable lengths, made a wooden plug for the back and free-hand cut the scoop shapes on the bandsaw. A bit of sanding and here they are. They hold almost two cups of soil each. I plan on selling a few to the members of my bonsai club for 5 bucks. If they don't sell, it was still a fun project.

Well, I posted them on the club's Google page and these 3 are spoken for by our club president.

Started pricking out JBP seedlings

This one is a little younger than I usually transplant but will still be OK

This is about where I prefer them to be.

I always trim the long root to encourage better laterals which should result in a better nebari in future. If the seedling already has some laterals started I trim just below a good cluster of roots.
IMG_1146c.jpg
but if there's no laterals yet, as in the first photo, I still chop the root.

Still a few to do.

Those may take me a couple of years to get them all transplanted to individual pots.

Learned a lesson. After 7 or 8 years thinking I know my trees, three cold windy days dried a couple out. I thought since it was so cold they would be fine and not drying out but.. the little azalea is the one I'm most worried about. Lessons learned. Don't forget how much the wind alone can dry out your pots. Looks like only two took a serious hit, but a few others are very pissed off at me.IMG_20231012_134017062_HDR.jpgIMG_20231012_134122515_HDR.jpgIMG_20231012_134150380_HDR.jpg

Brought all my trees indoors for the first freeze of the season. Check out this Reaper pepper that I plan on getting into a pot soon. I can’t believe how many peppers it’s loaded with.

I use these and ghost peppers in small quantities in the spicy Korean fish soup I make . Nothing like a little heat . Lolreaper peppers.jpgghost pepper.jpg

Big boy Pondo got restyled a few weeks ago and finally got it photographed. This one was a bit tricky as the really long needles made photographing the structure really tough regardless of light manipulation. Decided to shoot another angle just to show the movement better in 2D.
